hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We hosted the Edgar side of my family on Thanksgiving Day for luncheon. We had about 18 people that day. We had evening supper with Addi’s family. On Friday morning, I cooked a big breakfast for everyone who stayed in town. It was a good with, with many things to be thankful for.
The Christmas Bazaar at the Hilltop Community Building was held Saturday, Dec. 7. There were many Christmas items including some handmade gifts. Local artists provided music throughout the evening. Proceeds benefit the Community Building Maintenance Fund.
We want to extend sympathy to the family of Shirley Jones, who passed away Nov. 27. I have known Shirley and her family for many years. Her burial was at Jasper on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Our thoughts and prayers are with Arlene and Conard and their families at this sad time.

We also send condolences to the family of Anna (Reavis) Cross, who passed away Nov. 29. Her parents were Orville and Opal Reavis, of Compton. I remember Opal coming to the little church at Plumlee when I was growing up.
The Compton Volunteer Fire Department met for its regular monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at the County Line Baptist Church. Several members attended firefighter training Nov. 30.
Remember to donate metal to the scrap metal drive at the Compton Community Building. Please only place metal in the bin. Any other trash or non-metal products cause extra work and problems for the workers. If it will stick to a magnet, it can be placed in the dumpster. Proceeds will be split between the Community Association and the Fire Department. Thank you to those who are working on this project.
