Community Matters has chair vacancy

Posted

It was recently announced that Andrew Campbell, pastor of the Newton County Baptist Church at Piercetown, has accepted a ministry position elsewhere in Arkansas and has submitted his resignation from Community Matters, the community action coalition of non-profit and faith based organizations serving Newton County.
The coalition's bylaws task the vice-chair to fulfill the duties of the chair in their absence. Ross Harris, Seventh-day Adventist Church (with Jim Martin) currently are serving as co-vice chair. Also, the bylaws require a nominating committee of three or more individuals be appointed by the chair to recommend replacements for any vacancies that occur.
"This is taking place in the hopes that a report can be made at our regular meeting on later this month," Harris reported in an email to coalition members.
Community Matters meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Jasper Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The acknowledged purpose of Community Matters is to care about the community and its neighbors, work together to achieve unmet needs and offer a "hand up" to other community members in order to achieve lasting improvements. The next monthly meeting is Jan. 25, at 10 a.m., at the Jasper Methodist Church.
