The Arkansas School-Based Health Alliance is a non-profit organization which advocates for the provision of high-quality, easily accessible, coordinated health services to the children of Arkansas in a place they spend much of their time: their school. The School-Based Health Alliance of Arkansas was founded in 2012 and is the Arkansas voice for school-based health centers (SBHCs).
Built from the grassroots up by individuals from state agencies, local school-based health centers, child health and education organizations, the Arkansas Affiliate of the School-Based Health Alliance advocates for national and state policies, programs, and funding to expand and strengthen SBHCs, while also supporting the movement with training and technical assistance.
The Jasper School District's School-Based Health Center is located at 609 West Clark Street on the Jasper Campus. The SBHC offers medical services to all students, faculty, staff, and the entire community. The SBHC provides school-based mental health services to students.
The Jasper community was able to establish the School-Based Health Center through a grant. This grant was awarded to the district by the Arkansas Department of Education – Office of Coordinated School Health, made possible and supported by the Arkansas Tobacco Excise Tax, Arkansas Act 180 of 2009.
