100 pounds of illegal marijuana, stolen IDs, credit cards seized
At 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, an Arkansas State Police (ASP) Trooper made a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 East near the 169-mile marker. The Trooper detected the strong smell of marijuana, searched the vehicle and found four large duffle bags filled with 100 pounds of illegal, black-market marijuana.
The driver also was in the possession of six stolen driver’s licenses and corresponding credit cards, which were returned to their owners.
Aboubacar Diallo, 29, of Houston, Texas, was transported to the Lonoke County Detention Center and charged with felony Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft by Receiving.
Additional charges may result from an investigation being conducted by ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).
Suspect arrested following a shots fired call on I-40 East
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, ASP was notified of a shots fired incident that took place on I-40 East near the 233-mile marker.
The driver of a semi-truck reported that an individual inside a maroon Dodge truck shot at him while traveling eastbound on the interstate. He was able to relay the suspect’s vehicle and license plate information to ASP Troopers, who made a successful traffic stop on the vehicle with the help of the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
A suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to ASP Headquarters for interviews. An ASP CID investigation is ongoing.
ASP removes 8 pounds of marijuana from streets
During a routine traffic stop at 9:20 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, ASP seized approximately 8 pounds of black-market, illegal marijuana with an estimated street value of $16,000 and more than $7,000 in cash.
Heng Chhay, 49, and Hunter Prophet, 26, were taken into custody and charged accordingly.
ASP removes 79 pounds of marijuana from streets
During a routine traffic stop on Sunday, Nov. 12, ASP seized approximately 79 pounds of black-market, illegal marijuana with an estimated street value of $158,000.
James Revels, 34, was taken into custody and will be charged accordingly after a Trooper stopped a vehicle around 4 p.m. for failure to maintain lanes near the 178-mile marker on I-40 East.
