Saturday, Jan. 18, a large number of friends and family helped Jackie Humbard celebrate her 90th birthday. The group met at the ESI meeting room in Springdale. Jackie’s family worked hard to prepare for the day’s event. Thank goodness name tags were helpful to be able to know everyone who attended. There were 40 family members from all over the country. Included in the friends were classmates from college that Jackie hadn’t seen since they graduated, Jackie’s cousin, Don Phillips and Jackie are the oldest grandchildren of Henry and Amanda Casey Phillips living. Don and our brother, Robert were the same age. Four of Uncle Alvin’s family were there. Jackie’s three siblings and some of their kids were there. Robert’s son, Greg, Patty’s four children and families, Elaine and three of her daughters and one grandson were there. Jane was there and John and Wanda and Amy and her family attended. Jackie’s daughter Terri and Scott, her son Philip and Kay and children of daughter, Lynn enjoyed the day. Lynn was in Pennsylvania with her grandchild (Jackie’s 10th great grandchild) born Jan. 14. Friends of Jackie from her church, bridge clubs, neighbors, Friday lunch bunch, vacation trips, and TTT club came to wish her well. My guess was that there were over 125 people in attendance. Many friends known through Jay Dee’s work who had become family friends over the years.
I was visiting with Jackie Sunday afternoon. She was so tired, but was still enjoying the memories of the weekend. Friday night the family met at her grandson Mitchell's house for dinner and visiting. On Saturday from 2 p.m. until the evening when the family met at Jay’s another grandson’s house to visit and eat a meal while watching more pictures of years past. Lynn had gone through over 1,000 pictures to put together the videos shared during the afternoon and then more at Jay’s house.
It seems like we are going to feel the coldest weather we have had develop early this week. Then we will have warm weather develop as we have had in years past. It is hard to know if we are in winter time or some other season.
The weather has been so cold that the president-elect has had to move his swearing in ceremony indoors. Many people will be disappointed since they will not be able to be at the ceremony or the parade as they had planned to do.
During the snow, my mailbox was knocked over. The mailman must have gotten out of his vehicle to put our mail in the box. Awesome! Then one day later, someone put it back up.
Watch out for people who are getting COVID or the flu and be sure to wash your hands to keep from picking up the germs.
Stay healthy and warm!
