While watching the television tonight, I saw a story about a Christmas tree farm in Iowa. The trees are sold with their roots still on them. They do not cut down the trees. The family’s water the tree and keep it from drying out when they take it home. After Christmas the families take the tree back to the farm and it is planted again.
The tree farm owner said it has been well received by the people who have gotten the trees. It caught my ear when I heard the idea. I wondered if the people purchased the same tree each year or do they rent the tree?
I saw that my friend, Maxine Hudson Nichols’ husband passed away last week. Maxine and Gary had been married 60 years. Since they lived near Mt. Judea, I always expected them to attend the Jasper school reunion, but they didn’t. Maxine and I had a lot of fun while going to Jasper High School. We went to the Parthenon 4-H and to the basketball games together. I remember spending the night with Maxine. After they married, they were busy working and raising their two girls. I am sorry that Maxine has lost her husband.
Last week I didn’t have time to write for the paper because I took a trip to the ER at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. Thank goodness, I didn’t have to stay in the hospital. Good as new after some pain medication and antibodies.
The article in the paper about “Bethlehem Comes to Life,” sounded wonderful! I hate it that our newspaper tells about events that happen that week and I can’t make it there. It was the third year it has been presented to the public. Hopefully, I will see when it will happen next year before the date so I can get over there to enjoy it.
