As life goes by

Posted

This has been a different kind of week. Two funerals, “Von” Von Holdt, who was buried in Bella Vista, and another one I should have gone to on Saturday in Mountain View. Nancy Steele had been a good friend when I lived in Mountain View. This coming Thursday another friend’s funeral to go to. Bob Bauer was a member of my church and he was in the Bible study group we had in the Lost Bridge Village area. I saw that Kris Kristofferson has died. He was important in Mountain View when I lived there. The older I get the more deaths I find happen to my friends and acquaintances. We must live our lives the best way we can.
The Razorbacks will play on Saturday, playing Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. on ABC at the University of Arkansas. Always looking forward to a win!
Benton County Fair was the place to be last week. My friends Roxie, Terri and I worked the Country Store that the extension clubs’ man. The money earned goes to the 4 – H clubs for scholarships.
My bookclub met on Wednesday to discuss the book, “Carry On” written by one of our members, Lori Lentz. On Monday and Tuesday, I played bridge. I was the sub for one of the members who died. We went to her funeral Tuesday evening. Charlotte Lenehan was a member of our bridge club and also a member of our TTT club since 1989.

It is getting closer to election time. I have training on October 8. Each election we are trained to update us on the laws and make sure we recall all the things we have to do to make everything go well. I have a good team that works with me at NEBCO in Garfield. Be sure to register to vote if you haven’t already. Most people have been voting for years and don’t have to re-register each time. Listen to the candidates and make an educated decision before you go to vote. See if there are any issues because you will want to know what they mean. We can’t tell you what any issue means after you get there to vote. In local and county races, one vote could make the difference in who wins or loses. Learn as much as you can before you vote. Become active voters by learning as much as you can so you don’t just vote R’s and D’s.
Check in to getting your flu and COVID shots so you will be covered. The RSV and Shingles shots are offered, as well. Talk to your doctor or health office people to see what you should do.
Have a great week. Stay healthy and happy!
