LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism hosted Natural State Day at the Capitol Tuesday, Feb 4, showcasing the profound economic, cultural, and recreational impact of the outdoor industry in Arkansas. Attendees experienced exhibits from over 30 outdoor recreation organizations and businesses, highlighting Arkansas’ thriving outdoor economy.
The day’s events included a press conference with remarks from Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders; Secretary Shea Lewis of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism; Clint Gaston, Owner of Gaston’s White River Resort; and Bruce Stanton, Vice President and General Manager of PRADCO Outdoor Brands.
"Today is about the more than 40,000 Arkansans who keep our outdoor economy running, creating, making, building, and guiding visitors right into our backyard. My administration is busy building the Natural State’s reputation as a year-round, world-class outdoor recreation destination,” said Governor Sanders.
Secretary Shea Lewis remarked, “Outdoor recreation is more than just an economic engine—it’s a way of life for Arkansans. From our state parks to transformative projects like the Mena trails, we’re connecting people to nature, enhancing quality of life, and creating jobs in our communities.”
