LITTLE ROCK — An Arkansas Department of Transportation employee was killed Tuesday in a construction zone.
While working on picking up cones from a construction site, 29-year old Brandon Jones was involved in an accident that ended his life.
Jones was in the back of an ARDOT truck picking up construction cones along Arkansas State Highway 32.
While picking up those cones, Jones fell from the truck. He was struck and killed by an ARDOT truck that was following behind the truck from which Jones was working.
ARDOT director Lorie Tudor confirmed that Jones had passed and she issued this statement.
“Safety is alway our number one priority at ARDOT,” she said. “Our employees put their lives on the line every day working in vulnerable road conditions. Learning that we lost one of our own in a work zone weighs heavy on the entire ARDOT family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandon’s loved ones.”
