OMAHA — It was a battle for league placement in the 1A-1Northwest District Tournament.
Kingston traveled to Omaha for a trio of games. In senior girls play, Kingston left with a 52-41 win, while the Omaha senior boys won their contest, 71-59. In junior boys action, Kingston defeated Omaha, 58-27.
The Kingston senior girls put away Omaha in the fourth period to post a 52-41 win.
Kingston led 13-8 after the first period, but the Lady Eagles pulled with 23-20 at intermission.
That same three points separated the teams heading into the fourth quarter. Kingston led, 35-32.
In the final frame, Kingston outscored Omaha, 17-9, to win the contest by double digits.
Leading Kingston was Breanna Emitt with 16 points. Alesha Anderson added 12, Hattie Selsor and Brooke Barron nine each and Paige Johnson six.
The Omaha boys gradually built a lead on the way to posting a 71-59 win.
Kingston jetted out to a 17-15 lead at the end of the first period.
Omaha turned to its offense and led 35-30 at intermission.
The Eagles added five more points in the third period to their advantage and led by double digits with one period left.
Leading Omaha in scoring was Garrett Matlock with 35 points. Seth Lippe added 13, Jon Rylee France and Trey Stone nine each and Dillon Gant five.
Kingston was led by Cooper Riley and Avery Weaver with 18 points each. Jacob Murrell added 12, Troy Huber and Dylan Murrell four each and Jesse Root three.
The Kingston junior boys defeated Omaha, 58-27.
Kingston led 13-10 after the first period and then clamped down on defense. Kingston held Omaha to two points in the second frame.
The Junior Yellow Jackets led 30-12 at halftime.
Omaha scored 14 points in the third period and cut the Kingston lead to 40-26. However, Kingston held Omaha to a point in the final period while netting 18 to take a 58-27 win.
Leading Kingston was Zac Root with 20 points. Trey Bowen added 18, Sam Parker 11, Payton Hartness six, Darian Alexander three and Gannon Villines two.
