As life goes by

ELAINE LAUNDERVILLE

This week: Oh, those Razorbacks! Hoping they continue to win. That windmill shot was something to cheer about! What a shot. What was even better was the fact that Daniel Gafford had just blocked a shot on the other end of the court and then made it back to his own goal to make the neat shot that will be talked about for a long time. The way the team started out I thought they would lose the game. They could not hold onto anything, but they straightened up pretty quickly and pulled it off.

If you aren’t watching the XXIII Olympic Games you are missing some beautiful athletics doing what they have trained for all their lives. The opening ceremony was awesome. I was really impressed by the use of drones to make up the Olympic rings at the end after a beautiful display using them. Pyeongchang, South Korea, is a perfect place for the winter ceremony since it is the coldest place they have on record for their games.

Ice made it impossible to get to church this morning. It was so cold that I was happy to not have to get outside. The choir was going to sing at the early service so we were going to get there to practice at 7:30 a.m., for the eight o’clock service. We will be at church for Ash Wednesday this week. We are starting the church Lenten season that leads up to Easter with Wednesday evening services.
