William Bennett, 88, Hot Springs

William “Bill” Bennett, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, (2011). Born Jan. 7, 1922 in Johnson County, to Yell D. and Etta Mae Wheeler Bennett, he was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church. He was a strong supporter for preserving our forests. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Alfred Bennett, James Clark Bennett, Rowland Bennett, Richard Bennett and Margaret Vernice Bennett.

Survivors include his wife, Oletta M. Bennett; two daughters, Greta Doby and Gwen Correo; two stepdaughters, Maureen Groza and Waleen Kostal; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Yell Bennett, Jr.; one sister, Juanita Meadows.

Services were Saturday, Jan. 8, at Gross Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy McLeod officiating.

Memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church, 3899 Highway 290, Hot Springs, AR 71901.

Burial with military honors will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 15 at Fort Douglas Cemetery in Johnson County.
