Shirley Evon Buxton, 60, of Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, Nov. 15 (2015) at her home.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Holt Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Lurton Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Stanley Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Cowell Cemetery.

The daughter of Carl and Mollie (Dotson) Freeman was born on Aug. 3, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Shirley married the love of her life, Dwight Buxton, on July 25, 1970, at Kansas City, Missouri. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas, and a member of the Lurton Assembly of God Church. Shirley was employed at Honeywell, in Olathe, Kansas, for 36 years.

Her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Mack and Gladys Buxton; and two brothers-in-law, Bob and Everett Buxton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Dwight Buxton, of the home; one son, Dwight Buxton Jr. and his fiancée, Jennifer Wiedner; three granddaughters, Danelle, Lacey and Chloe, all of Kansas City, Kansas; one brother and his wife, Harold and Janis Freeman, of Pelsor; one sister and her husband, Patty and Rocky Smith, of Pelsor; one brother-in-law and his wife, Wayne and Beverly Buxton, of St. Louis, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Garland Freeman, Travis Freeman, Michael Gilmore, Troy Royce, Steve Freeman, and Randy Dotson. Honorary pallbearers include her co-workers at Honeywell and all of her church family.
