James Arley Carter, 87, of Western Grove, died Sunday, March 27 (2016) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Visitation is Thursday, March 31 starting at 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. both at Holt Memorial Chapel. Pastor Bill Schaeffer will officiate. Burial will be at Sand Hill Cemetery in Yardelle. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Share and Care, 105 US 62, Harrison, AR 72601.
The son of the late Alfred and Verla (Cowls) Carter was born on Oct. 7, 1928 at Mt. Judea.
His wife, Tennie Carter; infant daughter, Fran Carter; daughter, Anita Blythe; son, Gary Carter; and brother, William “Buddy” Carter preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son Rick Carter, of Harrison; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Rudolph Carter, of Missouri; two sisters, Leona Taffar and husband, Lyle, and Bobbie Waters, all of Harrison several nieces and nephews.
