FAYETTEVILLE — For the second time this month, the #13 Arkansas men’s golf program will play in one of the toughest fields in collegiate golf when the Razorbacks travel to the Floridian National Golf Club (Palm City, Fla.) to play in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.
Earlier this month, Arkansas served as host for the Cabo Collegiate, which featured 12 of the top 51 programs in the nation including six of the top 10, and placed third. The 16-team Valspar Collegiate Invitational will feature 13 of the top 50 programs in college golf, including 10 of the top 25. Highlighting the Valspar field will be #1 North Carolina as well as #3 Vanderbilt, #4 Arizona State, #6 Alabama, #11 Florida State, #13 Arkansas, #14 Oklahoma and #18 Texas.
The Valspar is scheduled for 36 holes (shotgun starts) on Monday and 18 holes (shotgun starts) on Tuesday.
Jacob Skov Olesen will play in the number one position. He is #14 in the NCAA rankings thanks to a team-best 69.85 scoring average and a team-best nine rounds in the 60’s. He is coming off back-to-back t-4th finishes and has a total of four top-6 finishes this season.
John Driscoll III will play in the number two spot. He also has four top-10 finishes this season, has a scoring average of 70.50 and a team-best 16 rounds of par or better.
Manuel Lozada, Thomas Curry and Christian Castillo will round out the Razorback lineup.
Arkansas will be playing its eighth event of the 2023-24 season and looking for its seventh top-4 finish. After the Valspar Collegiate, the Razorbacks close the regular season at Virginia’s Lewis Chitengwa Memorial (April 8-9) before playing at the SEC Championship, which starts on April 24.
