GREERS FERRY — The Jasper Lady Pirates are headed to the Class 1A State Softball Tournament.
The squad will face Shirley in action on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Greers Ferry Westside is hosting the tournament with games being played in Heber Springs as well. The opening Jasper contest is in Greers Ferry.
Shirley has had a successful season. The Lady Blue Devils are 15-5 overall and lost in the finals of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament, 4-2, to Concord.
Jasper finished third in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament held in Harrison.
The Lady Pirates defeated Lead Hill in the consolation bracket, 21-16.
In the first round of the tournament, the Lady Pirates defeated Mulberry, 18-8. In the semifinals, Jasper fell to Scranton, 15-0.
The Lady Pirates can score runs. The squad has scored 15 or more runs nine times in their 18 games.
